Si se puede!

I’m a little bit jazzed after making another donation to the Obama Campaign. This time I donated $20.00. Not much, I realize, but the best part is that my donation has been matched by another contributor for a combined total of $40.00. How’s that for unity & teamwork? :)

Anyways, it got me thinking about Barack’s 2004 speech at the Democratic National Convention, so I dug them up on youtube. Here are both parts of his speech (it’s a long one). If you haven’t watched it in awhile, you should take a look. It’s no wonder this guy inches away from the Presidency … looking back it’s practically a no-brainer. Now that I think about it … I might have blogged something to that affect about four years ago. ;) I think my exact words were “Why can’t I vote for this guy?” Well … now I can. :)

Yes, We Can!

I found this last night and I can’t stop listening to it.

You can find a higher quality version at http://www.yeswecansong.com/.

Here is just the mp3 version, which has better audio quality than youtube (though it’s a bit on the quiet side).

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

You can download it here.

From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yes_We_Can):

“Yes We Can” is a song inspired by a speech delivered by Barack Obama following the 2008 New Hampshire primary, derived from the union catchcry “Yes we can”. The song was released on February 2, 2008 by the Black Eyed Peas member will.i.am on Dipdive.com and also on YouTube under the username ‘WeCan08′. [1] Interspliced with footage from the speech, the song features appearances by numerous celebrities (mostly musicians, singers and actors) in support of Senator Obama’s 2008 U.S. presidential campaign. The song was produced by will.i.am; the music video was directed by Jesse Dylan, the son of singer Bob Dylan.[2]

Here is the full transcript of his speech:
