I’m a hick now …

by Chris M. Wilson on Nov.22, 2006, under Uncategorized

Ever since the baby arrived, the need for a second vehicle has been becoming increasingly more evident.  Now that Emilie has returned to work (in a somewhat limited capacity), the transportation hassles are really getting much more complicated.

So, to alleviate such issues, we have been looking around for a used truck.  A truck just makes sense.  We already have an SUV (which I guess is a car), and I have a trailer if I really need to haul stuff.  But it’s a serious pain hooking up the 5′x9′ trailer just to go to town and buy a 2′x4′ or take a few bags of garbage to the dump.  Unfortunately, we had little luck finding an appropriate vehicle at a decent price in this small town of ours that didn’t at leave have something obviously wrong with it.

Did I mention the internet is my friend?

After striking out in town, I started looking for used cars online.  I got a couple of hits on craigslist but those didn’t pan out.  It wasn’t until I went to autotrader.com that I started to have some optimism.

So, to make a short strory long, the end result is that yesterday afternoon we ditched work and went to Eugene (“the euge”) and bougt a used pickup truck.

Here are the stats:

Mileage 137,520
Exterior Color dark blue and tan
Interior Color Blue
Engine 8 Cylinder Gasoline
Transmission Automatic
Drive Type 4 wheel drive – rear
Stereo AM/FM Stereo Tape

Other ammenities include Air Conditioning, Alloy Wheels, Cruise Control, Power Door Locks, Power Windows, Power Steering, Tilt Wheel.

So, thats pretty much it.  There were floor mats and a bed liner too. ;)

I know where I can get my hands on a toolbox to put in it.  That should round it out quite nicely.

Now I know you are all wondring how I can possibly afford such extravagance?!?  I mean “Stereo AM/FM Stereo Tape” … that is livin’ large my friend!

Well, assuming nothing goes horribly wrong with it, I think we got a pretty good deal.

This massive behemoth of a truck only cost about $2700.00  Considering what was available in this town for that price I think we could easily recoup our investment.  And if it only lasts a few years, well then that works too.

 Here are some more pics:

So yeah … my coworkers say I’m a hick now.  Though, they say that all started when I started wearing a baseball cap. ;)

Take that republicans!

:boff:

It’s just a little bit after 2:00 am, the Democrats have clearly won the House (by a wide margin, no less) and are on their way to winning the Senate.

If Webb’s claim to virginia holds, and Montana goes to Tester, then it’s all over baby.

WOOOOOHOOOOO!

Oh, and I’m hitting 100% accuacy on my voting this time around for State elections.

I called them all.

Go suck an egg Ron Saxton!

WOOOOOHOOOOO!

Not that I’m gloating or anything … but man …

Sometimes it just feels nice to win.

That pretty much sums it up for now.

MSNBC has live coverage all day and all night (also available on their website), so check it out.

I’ll write more later :)
