New Baby!

by Chris M. Wilson on Oct.09, 2006, under Uncategorized

I will post more on this later, for now, here is a brief synopsis of how things went.

Emilie started having intense contractions around 11:30 pm Friday evening.

We were admitted to the hospital at 2:00 am Saturday morning.

Emilie got her epidural around 5:00 am, after which we both got a brief nap.

They manually broke her water around 7:30 am

She hit 10cm around noon and the real fun began.

After about an hour of pushing …

Amelia Rei Wilson

Amelia Rei Wilson was born at 1:09 pm on Saturday, October 7th.

( Rei is pronounced like “ray” and is Japanese, meaning “polite / well behaved” )

Weight: 7lb, 9.2oz.
Length: 20 inches.

FYI: Yes, I cut the cord… Yes, I watched the whole thing… and No, I did not feint. :^)

We were discharged from the hospital Sunday afternoon around 4:00.

Both Emilie and Amelia are home now and doing fine!

Pregnant Wife Update:

by Chris M. Wilson on Oct.06, 2006, under Uncategorized

This is a picture of Emile taken only a couple of days ago.  Notice the massive baby growing inside her belly!

This morning, Emilie had an appointment with her OB/GYN.  I’m not sure how they measure this kinda thing (in my small-engine repair class, we would have used a bore gage), but at any rate, it seems Emilie is dialated to 3cm.

I know what you’re thinking!

HOLY CRAP!

Yes … I’m thinking the same thing.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Doctor says that the head is really low.  Surprisingly low in fact.  And furthermore, he thinks this thing is gonna happen tonight.

TONIGHT!

To top it all off … Emile has started having contractions!

I’m gonna pass out…

Picture McCully Culkin with his hands clasped to each side of his face, and you have an idea of how I’m feeling right now.  You see … I’ve been pretty cool about this whole thing for 9 months now.  Cool as a cucumber.  Ok, so finding out was initially a shocking moment, and having to watch videos of numerous chicks giving birth helped to almost return the unused portion of my lunch for a full refund.  Aside from that though, I was fine.

Today?  I’m useless.  I’ve felt nausous since Emile first told me about her visit to the doctor.  My coworkers say I look pale.  I’m freaking out man!

( keep it together, keep it together, keep it together, keep it together )

Ok … I’m better now.

Stay tuned for more updates.
